History

Being that the Guild was founded in the 1980s, part of our history is stored in a plastic file-folder box. Digging through the history files uncovered some interesting events and names.

First Meeting: This appears to be the minutes from the very first meeting of the original members that were looking to organize the Guild:

Early Newsletters: Back in the day before the Internet was available for Guild communications, the monthly newsletter was a tri-folded, photocopied document that was sent via USPS (snail mail). In some cases, the newsletter was typed, in others, it was printed on a dot matrix printer:

Financials 1993: Dues back then were $25/year (same as today) but back then, there were monthly expenses for photocopying and postage…

Non-turning events: As the name states, Northern Rockies Woodworking Guild, we are not just a turning club. In this case, a Wheelwright symposium was organized where members could try their hand at building an authentic wagon wheel.

Turning Seminar: The Guild held a few turning seminars showcasing the talents of the members.
